2009 IS HERE
LET’S START THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE THIS YEAR.
PATIENCE – A BODY TAKES TIME TO SCULPT
We currently live in a society where patience is a thing of the past and almost any time we want something we can get it almost instantaneously. Unfortunately where fitness is concerned it doesn't always work that way. Far too many individuals, in an effort to reach their goals in record time, think that the more effort they give, the faster their success will be. The problem with this is that sometimes, more effort does not translate to an increase in success but rather puts you on the fast track to failure.
Do you disappear from the gym into oblivion for weeks on end? Do you hit the snooze button in favour of your morning run? Do you find yourself having a cheat meal everyday? I think not. But if you are, don't fret just yet. Whether you aspire to be a muscle-bound freak or a lean-mean-ripped-machine, or are just working towards a happier healthier mind & body, it takes dedication to see the fruits of your labour.
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Small Goals… Big Gains
Establish timeframes, get a training partner, & reward yourself when you achieve your goals. Instead of one big goal, write down several smaller goals on a sheet of paper and call it your "To Do List". For example:
By end of month:
1) Gain 2.0kg in lean body mass / or decrease scale weight by 2kg 2) Increase bench press max lift 3) Add 2cm to Chest and Arm measurements or alternatively decrease thigh & stomach measurement by 2cm 4) regularly consume 6 meals a day 5) Increase distance walked by .5km in the same time frame
Goals are all relevant to your desired outcome. But whatever your goal is, the smaller your goals, the more likely you are to continue on with your training and succeed in achieving your ultimate body changes. So write a “to do list” today.
